Raw Cashew Nuts Export

1. Moisture Control

Raw cashew nuts are highly sensitive to humidity and must comply with defined moisture limits during export:

• Moisture content of raw cashew nuts must remain below 8–9% to prevent spoilage and rejection.
• Recommended relative humidity inside container should be controlled to safe levels (generally below 70%).
• Excess moisture leads to:
  • Mold growth and aflatoxin development
  • Rancidity and discoloration
  • Kernel damage and odor formation

Cargo desiccant bags must be installed to actively absorb moisture and maintain safe humidity levels throughout transit.

2. Container Preparation Standards

Before loading raw cashew nuts, the container must meet the following safety conditions:

• Container must be clean, dry, and odor-free
• Wooden flooring and dunnage moisture content must be below 18%
• Use of kraft paper or lining material is required to reduce condensation impact
• Proper ventilation or moisture control system must be ensured

Containers failing moisture and cleanliness standards are not suitable for food-grade export cargo.

3. Temperature & Transit Conditions

• Need to maintain stable environmental conditions for rcn exports.
• The recommended transport temperature should be 5°C to 25°C.
• Avoid extreme temperature fluctuations to prevent condensation.
• Long transit routes (40–50 days) require continuous humidity control.

4. Packaging & Handling

Proper packaging is mandatory for raw cashew nuts during export to prevent contamination and mechanical damages.

• Raw cashew nuts must be packed in dry jute bags or approved packaging materials.
• Packaging must be protected from rain and damp conditions during handling.
• No sharp tools or hooks should be used to avoid bag damage.

5. Temperature and Ventilation Management

Containers should be sealed appropriately to prevent external moisture ingress. In certain routes, controlled ventilation may be required, but excessive airflow should be avoided as it may introduce humid air.

6. Handling and Storage Before Loading

Cashew nuts must be stored in dry, well-ventilated warehouses prior to loading. Exposure to high humidity or direct sunlight should be avoided to maintain product quality before shipment.
